The Frankster: At A Glance- Bob Ong

Random thoughts with Marlon Guanzon.

Bob Ong, WHO ARE YOU?!

I have always been a fan of Bob Ong. You know why? He's a successful writer, he's famous...and he's freakin' unknown! Who wouldn't want to read books from an unknown writer [LOL]!

Anyways, his books are full of humor. Books like, "ABNKKBSNPLAKO", "Kapitan Sino", "Stainless Longganisa" and MORE! I don't know if his way on making people want to read his books is his "unknownability" or if it's just really for fun. But of course, if you were a famous person, why wouldn't you want your name to be known?!

Once again, this is just a random thought...so MIND THE RANDOMNESS.

Bob Ong, who ever you are let me know.

The Frankster: Ang Mga Kaibigan ni Mama Susan

Random thoughts with Marlon Guanzon.

Ang Mga Kaibigan ni Mama Susan (Mama Susan's Friends) by Bob Ong

Ang Mga Kaibigan ni Mama Susan is a horror/suspense novel written by Bob Ong (a famous anonymous writer in the Philippines). It is a book worth buying...that is, if you understand Tagalog. (Of course, if you were an average Filipino, why will you buy something like a German book?)

The story focuses on a young man named, Gilberto P. Manansala (also called Galo), a college student from a university in Manila, and his journal. He writes this journal for his college teacher since his teacher misplaced his first journal. His entries include: his everyday life, his heartbreak, his own raps, guitar chords..and his nightmares and mysterious encounters with horror.

Galo then received messages telling him to go back to the province to visit his ill grandmother, named Susan. after some doubts of not going, he then made up his mind and just went. **THIS IS THE PART WHERE ONE MYSTERY AFTER ANOTHER SEEMS TO UNVEIL**...which is why I'm gonna cut the story in this part!

Reasons why i stopped at this part:
-Because this is the part that really makes you go "WEW"
-This is the "GOOD PART"
-And, yeah, I stopped because I'm lazy to tell you the whole story
-but of course, let's not forget that this is just a blog...and a blog doesn't tell the story of a book...it makes you want to try that certain thing!

Anyways...you can buy it on bookstores, particularly in the Philippines, because like what i said, "Why will there a Filipino Book in a German Bookstore?"

"Now, can you feel the tight hug of a friend?"
-Last words from the book (translated poorly into English).

The Frankster: Silent Hill: Shattered Memories

Random thoughts with Marlon Guanzon
Silent Hill: Shattered Memories (I'm going to put the whole title of the game so that it won't be confused with the other installments of the Silent Hill series) is a survival horror game that really gets you INTO THE GAME! It really gets to know you well. There are parts of the game where you have to answer questionnaires that affect the game itself basing it on the player's answers.

THE STORY:
You start the game as Harry Mason, the protagonist of the game, you were driving in a "snowy" storm, the roads were icy until he accidentally loses control of his car. After gaining his consciousness back, Harry steps out of his car only to find out that his daughter, Cheryl, was missing. He searches the streets of Silent Hill- oh let's cut the story short! Basically Harry just goes around the whole Silent Hill trying to find out where his daughter really is...and on his way in searching for her, he occasionally gets nightmares. He enters this "unknown world" where EVERYTHING is covered in ice or at least gets...icy.

THE GAME'S UPS AND DOWNS:
The part in the game that really disappointed me is that you only get to run from the "monsters". I mean like, c'mon Harry fight back! Grab a weapon and kill those freaking monsters! But honestly, this feature made it more interesting for me to play the game, it keeps you going, and gives you a "slight adrenaline rush" due to the horrifying monsters chasing you. Well, to tell the truth, Silent Hill: Shattered memories FOR ME has no flaws, you get to enjoy it a lot not to mention the several alternate endings!

Alternate endings? What you talking about??
Yes, the game has several endings, and these endings are based on the players answers to the questionnaires. There is a total of 3 alternate endings, and 5 possible videotape scenes. IT IS ALL UP TO YOU TO FIND OUT, I WON'T SPOIL IT "TOO MUCH" FOR YOU.

Those damned things.

Now for the conclusion, well, one thing is clear about this game, it freaking shocked, creeped, and scared me! and actually had a "nightmare-ish dream" after finishing it.

"Silent Hill, it plays you as much as you play it"
-from the psychological warning before starting the game.

The Frankster: Rise of Nations

Random thoughts with Marlon Guanzon

Diplomacy, economy, espionage, bloody battles, advancing in technology...want all of these in just a single game?
PLAY THIS!

"Rise of Nations", you probably think it's just another real-time strategy game, with the same graphics such as the other strategy games (e.g. Command & Conquer,Company of Heroes, etc.) that you've played, but NO!

Rise of Nations is a game that takes you back centuries ago and allows you to control a certain nation. Through defending your own cities to destroying enemy strongholds and conquering their territories, "Rise of Nations" has it all. Some part in the game, you need to gather resources for constructing buildings, train your soldiers, advance in technologies, create siege weapons, and expand your territory.

Lesser beings.

I haven't really tried playing the multiplayer function of the game, but campaign itself is a bit hard for me. In Campaign, you have to race with other nations in ruling the world!

Rise of Nations, History is in your hands.
